  • PBS TeacherLine Information

PBS TeacherLine is one of many ways that Arkansas PBS and ArkansasIDEAS supports the professional development needs of Arkansas educators. Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, PBS TeacherLine offers research-driven and standards-based professional development through facilitated, online courses and collaborative learning communities. These opportunities are designed to help PreK-12 teachers acquire the skills they need to prepare students for successful futures.

Certified PBS TeacherLine facilitators teach PBS TeacherLine courses. Many of these facilitators also teach at universities across the U.S. Courses are offered through the ArkansasIDEAS LMS at no cost to Arkansas-licensed educators.*

While each course offered through PBS TeacherLine is worth a total number of hours, professional development credit and hours are awarded at the discretion of an individual's local school district. Graduate credit may also be earned in partnership with participating institutions. Learn more about graduate credit.

    * PBS TeacherLine courses are offered at no cost through funding provided by ADE and ArkansasIDEAS. Please note only one course per term will be funded; therefore, a learner may only take four (4) courses per year at no cost.

    Course Offerings

Each asynchronous, Internet-based course consists of weekly readings and online discussion boards, as well as challenging assignments. Most courses are completed within six weeks, and participants can expect to spend between three and eight hours per week on course work.

PBS TeacherLine courses are only offered four times per year (January, March, June and October) to allow for greater collaboration. For a complete listing of the courses offered, visit the PBS TeacherLine Course Catalog .
